Day 2 – Sheffield Pie Shop, New Zealand

Day 2 – Sheffield Pie Shop, New Zealand

Prior to leaving Australia for our holiday to New Zealand, I researched as mentioned before into various places and events we could attend. One of these was the Sheffield Pie Shop. It is very close to our previous destination, Kowai Park Reserve in Springfield and about 40 minutes inland from Christchurch. Since finding out about this place, we have been looking forward to trying their pies. Online when you research into the pie shop, it is announced that this particular shop is famous and has received various awards for their…

Kowai Pass Reserve Campground, Springfield, New Zealand

Once we had let our BurgerFuel meal settle, we decided to start our journey. The original plan was to spend the night in Christchurch and attend Ko Tane, the living Maori village the following night. With the help of WikiCamps New Zealand, we found three cheap campsites in and around the city. One was a back-packers, so we cancelled that one out. We then drove around and had a look at the other two. Both were car parks which we didn’t mind, after all we had a fully equipped, self-contained…

BurgerFuel on TripAdvisor

BurgerFuel on TripAdvisor

After searching for a place to write a review for BurgerFuel, I linked in with TripAdvisor. I had never been on this before but learnt on the holiday that it is a great way to share thoughts about various places to other people. I have decided to add this to each of my New Zealand holiday stories, as I have some very strong first impressions. Some are negative, some are very positive. Stay tuned to see which ones I write. BurgerFuel – very positive.

BurgerFuel – Spitfire Shopping Centre, Christchurch NZ

BurgerFuel – Spitfire Shopping Centre, Christchurch NZ

After filling the van with supplies, it was time to have tea. As it was getting ate we decided that cooking would take too long. We were just too hungry. Within the same complex as Countown (Woolworths) was a burger place called BurgerFuel. Back home in Victoria, Australia there is no such place. I have since learnt that BurgerFuel exists in other Australian states, but has as yet not made it to the southern areas of the country. I decided that due to my enjoyment in eating burgers in the past, I…

We have returned from New Zealand

We have returned from New Zealand

Kia Ora everybody. We have undertaken our New Zealand holiday and have returned home to Melbourne, Victoria. It was an amazing yet busy holiday. We tried to fit in as many sites as we could within the week long exploration. Unfortunately some of our plans were changed due to time and distance restrictions, however we saw so much of the amazingly beautiful South Island. With green everywhere and a fair amount of rain, it is a very inviting and remarkable place. The night before we left our neighbours came over…

New Zealand holiday – Kiwi Girl

New Zealand holiday – Kiwi Girl

I was out and about shopping one day and came across a Kiwi plush toy. She was wearing a hat and an apron. I decided then and there that she would be our little New Zealand holiday mascot, so I bought her. As we were hiring a van, I thought she could sit on the dash and we could take her to various locations where she would be in various photos. The journey would follow her. I felt a bit silly buying a Kiwi toy in Australia for a holiday…

New Zealand holiday – van booked

New Zealand holiday – van booked

The next day I rang the number the non-kiwi lady had provided me. I got through and again was fortunate to speak to a very helpful woman. She explained the Entertainment Book and membership to me. For $65.00 I could purchase a Melbourne Entertainment Book which would be valid until June 2016. With this, I could save $257.00 in total with the book. How could we go wrong with that? As I needed to order the book online, I went to the site the lady told me about. I ordered…

New Zealand continued……

New Zealand continued……

Now that we knew where we were going and when, it was time to start looking into the flights. We discovered these were much cheaper than flying to Fiji. There were various prices and departure times available. We began by looking into Jetstar – the cheapest airline, and discovered the fine print. Lucky we looked as this is where they become a lot dearer. This fine print information explained that Jetstar have a carry-on luggage size of 5kg which is included in the price. To be honest, there is no…

New Zealand 40th Birthday – further plans

New Zealand 40th Birthday – further plans

I knew immediately what I wanted to do for the New Zealand holiday. It was not going to be a fly over and stay in a hotel. I am not a hotel type of woman. It is very limiting staying in one location.  Ever since I was in my early twenties I have wanted to experience hiring a motorhome in NZ. With a motorhome you can travel and sleep anywhere. No hiring a car as it is attached to your accommodation. To make this happen, we needed to decide which…
